A healthy pregnancy starts long before conception. Poplin set out to give couples across the USA a pre-pregnancy wellness companion — one that shows them where their health stands and how to improve it, for the best possible start for their future baby.

Poplin is a pre-pregnancy wellness companion that gives couples the information they need to improve their health and give their child the best start possible.
Poplin came in wanting to upgrade its existing platform — but a full rewrite turned out to be the better path. Where the old version had taken many months, the new one was ready in two.
Poplin’s app didn’t come together in isolation.
Design and development ran extensively alongside ORDRS, whose API is linked to Quest Diagnostics (one of the largest US clinical-lab networks) and a network of doctors who advise on improving health.
Payment processing went through a Stripe integration.
The biggest challenge was the Premium Package.
Poplin wanted it to include all 49 different tests, but laboratories could only perform 35 of them and send results back to ORDRS.
The package kept all of its contents. Behind the scenes it was split in two, so the user still feels as if they bought only one — once results are in, they’re merged and sent back.
Medical records and other individually identifiable health information have to be protected — so their collection, use, and sharing all followed strict rules.
After many tests, the app was ready.
It’s easy to use and genuinely helpful for anyone considering pregnancy.
Poplin shipped an app that measures not just hormones, but health: hormone levels, vitamin levels, blood type and status, immune status, nutrient status, stress levels, and more.
Once results are in, a pre-pregnancy score is calculated. If the score is too low, the user gets advice on how to improve their health.
The partnership continues — including upgrades such as at-home sample collection.
